Recognizing that individual members have specific marketing needs and customer focus areas, a consortia system has been established at the ESC. When a critical mass of member companies agree that a particular technology or market opportunity warrants a higher level of support and involvement, a consortium of energy companies, equipment manufacturers and vendors, and customers is created to raise funds to produce deliverables. Average life span of a consortium is 3 years. Deliverables and budget are managed by the members, and an ESC staffer is designated to provide support. Typical consortium deliverables might include equipment demonstrations and installations at customer sites, development of websites, equipment catalogues, advertising, trade show support, market assessment studies, marketing literature, sales staff training tools, etc. Consortium will serve as one of the primary processes through which ESC members receive benefit from the organization. Typically, only members of the consortium are entitled to receive the consortia deliverables.
